Mechanism Brainstorms

This week, we brainstormed potential ideas for robots, and we started creating potential designs for our robots. Building upon our experience with robots, we each thought of different ways that we could design robots so that we could determine the pros and cons of each model. It was important to take into consideration the rules and regulations of this year’s game. Antonia considered using four or six bar to raise higher than a claw. She also considered a two stage elevator and decided on 4 motors for the drive train.

Sarah began designing an intake into a flywheel. She continued researching individual mechanisms to build together.

Kamila considered mounting the intake on the scissor life as well as a claw. She determined a lift would be better than a flywheel because of its increased accuracy and also included more motors.

We all shared our ideas this week, and at the end of the meeting we all chose a robot to explore further. Next week we will each come with a completed idea that we can share and give feedback on.
